An established education facility renewed for community learning, with improved access and updated spaces that retain a connection to the building’s original character.
Working with the existing building
Cyclo was appointed as the main builder for an extensive renovation designed by Edmiston Jones. The building’s age and condition presented engineering challenges, requiring careful coordination as the existing structure was adapted for its next chapter.
Making learning more accessible
A new lift improved access through the facility, supporting WEA Illawarra’s commitment to lifelong learning. This practical addition helped make the building easier to use for the community it serves.
Renewing the whole setting
The project brought together a building extension, internal fitout and streetscaping. The completed works created a more functional education environment while respecting the original structure and the era in which it was built.
