Canberra Private Hospital needed to expand its facilities while continuing to operate day-to-day. Cyclo was engaged by CYRE Projects as Head Contractor to deliver a refurbishment of part of the existing hospital, along with a new full-floor expansion.

Working inside a live hospital shaped every decision. Our team had to plan the works in stages so patient care, staff movement and clinical services could continue safely. This meant clear separation of work zones, tight control of noise and dust and a strong focus on infection control. It also required regular communication with hospital staff so everyone knew what was happening, when and how it might affect access.

The build also came with some practical constraints. We managed the demolition and removal of an existing Faraday cage, which required careful sequencing and safe handling in a controlled environment. Access for materials was limited, so oversized items had to be craned in through windows, with lifts planned around hospital operations and safety requirements.

Across both the renovation and the new floor, our role was to keep the program moving while staying respectful of the setting. We coordinated daily with CYRE Projects and the hospital team to manage trades, deliveries and shutdowns.

The project was completed on time and on budget, with minimal disruption to the hospital’s daily operations.
