Cyclo helped bring this unique vision to life through a thoughtfully designed fit-out that combines playful elements, Indigenous artwork and calming spaces to create a welcoming, youth-focused environment that challenges the traditional medical setting.
A different approach to care
Djanaba Next Practice is a Child and Adolescent Wellness Centre of Excellence in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, supporting disadvantaged children and adolescents affected by childhood trauma. The vision was to create a welcoming, youth-focused environment that challenged the traditional perceptions of a medical clinic and helped children and young people feel safe, comfortable and supported.
A space with meaning
The centre brings together playful design elements and meaningful cultural references, paying homage to the Traditional Custodians of the land. Indigenous artwork by Liddy Napanangka Walka creates a strong connection to Country, while a custom astro turf rug introduces colour and a sense of play. A dedicated tech-free sanctuary provides a quieter space for children and adolescents to pause, unwind and feel at ease.
