Founded with a vision to make specialist veterinary care more accessible, MediPaws set out to create a purpose built 24-hour hospital that would raise the standard of veterinary healthcare in Sydney. The new Leichhardt facility brings together specialist services, advanced diagnostics and a calm, welcoming environment for pets, owners and staff.
To deliver this vision, MediPaws needed a purpose built facility that could support a fully integrated model of care. Cyclo designed and delivered a custom veterinary hospital that brings together emergency care, specialist services and advanced imaging in one highly efficient environment. Dedicated cat and dog zones, direct emergency access, rehabilitation facilities, a grieving room and carefully considered circulation all help reduce stress for patients while improving operational efficiency.
One of the project’s defining features is its advanced imaging department, incorporating MRI, CT and one of Australia’s first veterinary spec CT facilities with an integrated nuclear medicine hot lab. Delivering these spaces required complex structural engineering, including a suspended mezzanine, vibration control, radiation shielding and craning equipment through the roof.
Inspired by Leichhardt’s Italian heritage, the interiors pair warm terracotta with calming sage tones, natural light and playful wayfinding to create an environment that feels both welcoming and reassuring.
Today, MediPaws provides a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital where advanced technology, thoughtful design and efficient workflows come together to support better outcomes for patients, clients and clinicians. Just as importantly, it has created a workplace where the veterinary team enjoys collaborating and delivering the highest standard of care.
