A purpose-built cardiology practice that balances the technical demands of specialist healthcare with a comfortable, considered experience for patients and staff.
Creating a purpose-designed practice
Dr Astin Lee and his fellow cardiologists had been searching for new premises before settling on the ground floor of the Avantè building on Rawson Street, Wollongong. The cold-shell space offered a strong foundation for a purpose-designed cardiology practice, with high ceilings and abundant natural light from the north-facing shopfront.
Planning for clinical function
Cyclo was engaged to develop initial sketches and budget costs before progressing to a detailed fit-out plan and proposal. Working within the demands of the cardiologists’ busy schedules, the team refined the layout efficiently, balancing clinical requirements with patient comfort, privacy and the practical needs of a specialist medical practice.
Delivering a functional cardiology fit-out
The fit-out brings together ten consulting rooms, four dedicated test rooms and an expansive waiting area within a cohesive, carefully planned layout. Each space contributes to the daily operation of the practice, supporting consultations and cardiac testing while allowing the team to move efficiently between clinical areas. High ceilings and natural light help create an open, welcoming environment, complemented by a warm interior approach that moves away from the feel of a conventional clinical setting.
